360 is the order of the alternating group of degree 6, which is isomorphic to the matrix group PSL(2,9), and to B2(2)′. It is one of the few non-abelian simple groups with only three distinct prime factors in the order.

Humanity has chosen 360 to be the number of degrees in the circle, since it has many divisors.

And in the Maya calendar, one tun is equal to 360 k'in.

The ismarragam (De Vlieger Arqam) name for 360 is "Kinoctove" (Kintove for short), from its factorization 5 (kin) x 8 (oct) x 9 (nove).[1]

In chess[]

It is also the number of possible rook moves in 6×6 minichess.
