500 is an abundant number.

Its prime factorization is 22 × 53.

It's commonly used to measure the amount of paper.[5] Its Roman numeral is D. In the Portuguese and Spanish languages, 500 is called “quinhentos” and “quinientos”, respectively.

Currency-related use[]

The 500 euro banknote was the euro banknote with the highest value, but it was abolished in 2019.

Some other currencies, such as the Czech koruna and the Hungarian forint, also have banknotes with this number in the denomination.

Some currencies, such as the Indonesian rupiah and the Paraguayan guaraní, have coins with this number in the denomination.

It is also the prize for correctly answering the first four questions in some national editions of the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in the respective local currency, and the prize for correctly answering the first five questions in the German game show Wer wird Millionär? in euros.

Under paragraph 2 section 3 of the German broadcasting law, any video streamer with 500 or more simultaneous viewers requires a broadcast license.

Under Schedule 2 of the Singaporean Misuse of Drugs Act, anybody who is found in possession of more than 500 grams of cannabis is subject to capital punishment.
