The Strong Entropic Function is a satirical function created by Lendri Mujina in order to mock Utter Oblivion being treated as a well-defined number by those unfamiliar with googology and unaware of the circular reasoning that the definition for it lends itself to[1]. Similar to other unformaised uncomputable googolisms, it refers to unformalised syntax and semantics, which lead the ill-definedness.
Definition[]
The Strong Entropic Function is defined using a modified version of the definition for Utter Oblivion:
"the largest finite number that can be uniquely defined using no more than x symbols in some K(x) system in some K2(x) 2-system in some K3(x) 3-system in some K4(x) 4-system in some .........Kx(x) x-system where the number x can be represented with one symbol (byte).", where a Km(n) m-system is an arbitrary well-defined system of mathematics that can generate K(m-1)(n) (m-1)-systems and which can be uniquely described in at most n symbols and a K1(n) system is an arbitrary well-defined system of mathematics which can be uniquely described in n symbols.".
Therefore, Utter Oblivion = 无S(Oblivion).
Turning it into a function was for the purpose of demonstrating how someone trying to define a number using that logic would be a violation of the Googology Wiki's policies (e.g. one could easily say 无S(Utter Oblivion), and so on.)
Etymology[]
The name comes from the concept of entropy, strictly meaning the tendency for anything to eventually become spread out over the maximum possible area given, but commonly associated with the ultimate fate of the universe. This gives it a double meaning of being both the nature of the function — that is, providing a given space for a variable to spread out as thinly as possible — and mocking the hyperbolic, apocalyptic names of terms like "Oblivion".
The symbol used is the kanji meaning "nothingness", pronounced "mu" and sometimes associated with the concept of an eternal void.
