A zhao (兆 in Chinese), chō (兆 in Japanese) or jo(조 in Korean) is equal to \(10^{12}\)[1][2] in Japanese, Chinese and Korean counting system. In English, it is equal to one trillion in the short scale and one billion in the long scale. In Chinese, there was a system called "下數 (xiàshù)" where yi (億) means \(10^{5}\), "zhao" (兆) means \(10^{6}\), and so on,[3] and zhao still means \(10^{6}\) in many cases.
